The Chalet Mélèzes is located in the hamlet of "Les Bois" a few kilometers from the center of Chamonix Mont-Blanc. The original chalet has been built in the early 2000's and was containing 5 apartments.
The renovation project allowed the maintain and the insulation of the existing structure by turning the accommodation into an individual chalet. The existing roof has been completely re-create, allowing the creation of a new openings towards the summit of "Les Drus".
On the outside the chalet kept the original characteristics, a perfect balance between, wood, rocks and mineral paster.
Inside the transformations were more important. The architects in their project decided to keep the structure by rethinking all the interior spaces to adapt them to the expectations of the client . The Fedarch studio team took care of designing all the interior fittings and guiding the client in the choice of materials in a way to obtain a contemporary and comfortable atmosphere.
The chalet is extended on 3 levels: In the basement we find the garage, ski room, wellness area and service rooms. On the ground floor there are six bedrooms with private bathrooms. On the first floor there is a large open space area which includes the kitchen, the dining room and the living room.
In every floors the style remains the same, a modern and warm atmosphere full an elegant details . In the development of the interior project, a particular attention has been bring to the use of metal. Architects work on a unique design that is used a little bit everywhere on the house( Banister, guardrail , Fireplace,...) this design appears like a signature for the chalet Mélèze.
